Christmas is almost here and I am starting to feel a bit stressed out all the Christmas shopping and gift wrapping. And if thats not enough the days are really dark right now up here north, and i feel i could need a few more hours of sunlight each day.Thats why I got really happy when a friend of mine had birthday and wanted a sun-cake.He is from south India and is used to a bright sun all year long, so i guess he was hoping that a sun-cake would brighten up his day, I really hope it did :) I got at least very happy out of making it. It is made of Orange cake filled with cinnamon marinaded oranges ,white and dark chocolate cream.

So here is another car cake,this time a Lamborghini. I never thought it would be s o difficult to make cars, i guess the most difficult part is to make them look the same on both side.It all start when you start to carve out the cake, just a few cm wrong cutting and you have to "glue" on some cake again. Especially on this car where it is so much details. And also very time consuming. BUT the great part is that is so much fun , i love to do all this small details , painting it in different colors and see it becoming more and more like a car(well, not always though) This cake is for a boy named Ilja for his 10 years birthday. He is playing a care game called Need for speed and his favorite car is a Lamborghini. I used a car from the game as a model. I really hope he enjoys the car as much as his game ;) The cake is made after Iljas choice, he wanted a Chocolate cake with cashew nuts filled with banana cream i also added a thin layer of light chocolate cream.

This is the first car cake i have made. I was thinking that it cant be so difficult, but so wrong can a person be. And since it was was suppose to be a Bentley as well i was struggling a lot. But i somehow manage to make a car that looked a bit like Bentley. But anyway the lady who i made it for became very happy , so then my cake heart also becomes happy. So this huge Bentley cake is made of 5 kg chocolate cake filled with pineapple mousse and chocolate cream.

This is the first 3D cake i have made, it was not so difficult as i thought it would be. But a lot of work, but enjoyable work. It is not so easy to see it but the cakes are really big, i think both of them together is like 6-7 kg. It is for a boy who becomes 5 years old, and obviously his big hero is Thomas . His mother was very frighten that Thomas alone was to little cake , so late last night i made the wagon called Annie . Luckily i had a cake and cream ready. So The Tank Engine Thomas is made of chocolate cake with cashew nuts filled with raspberry cream.Annie is made of plane chocolate cake filled with raspberry cream.

This chocolate squares is actually cake balls in square shapes. The original cake balls are kind of cool looking but i must say i like the squares much better. I mean it taste of course the same, but this ones looks so much more delicate.So thees Chocolate squares are full of roasted almonds ,sweet chocolate and a pinch of vanilla.

And once again thees Russians wanted a mousse cake. I am even out of new tast ideas , i think i have tried it all. So this time i made a simple mousse with cherry yogurt and lemon. I usual make a thin layer of vanilla cake at the bottom of the cake, but on this cake i made two layers of really dark chocolate cake. I had a lot of cherry juice on them and they became really moist and the cherry juice made the chocolate cake taste soft and nice. And i topped the Cherry lemon mousse cake with jelly made of sour cream and cherry juice. Decorated with pomegranate and silver leaf.

So i finally manage to make cake balls. I have wanted to make them for so long time. The great thing with them is that you can make them out of left over cake, but for some reason i never have any left over cake. So now i made a cake just for thees delicious cake balls. The dangerous thing with them is that if you have taken one it is impossible to stop, believe me i was forcing myself not to go to the fridge to check if they where ok.( Might have been some dangerous stuff in the fridge that could attacked them , never know ) They are made of Vanilla cake covered with white and dark chocolate.

Autumn is the most beautiful season of the year, all the colors and the cold air is really refreshing. Even when it is raining and cold i still enjoy it, i can sit inside under a warm blanket with a hot cup of tea and be happy i don't need to go anywhere. Yesterday the first snow fell here, so before the winter start i decided to make a autumn cake to celebrate all its glory. This is a Cinnamon cake filled with white chocolate and prune cream.

When i was a small girl i used to play with a Japanese fan that my father had brought home from Japan when he was a sailor. I used to love this fan and treasured it like it was made with diamonds. I still have it and still love it. So this cake is copy of my dearest things i have from my childhood. This cake i made for a sweet girl who became 3 years. Her favorite cartoon is called Luntik. I have no idea if Luntik is a male or female but here he/she is with friends:) The girl became very happy to see the cake and ate two of Luntiks four ears and one of his legs, and i am really not sure she ate any cake..... The challenge with this cake was not to make it, it was the two hours i had to have it on my lap in the backseat of a car on a bumpy Russian village road. Not recommended. But the cake made it and everyone (except the birthday girl) ate Vanilla cake filled with marinade cherries and cherry/orange mousse with pleasure.

This is a cake i made for a cake competition where the topic was ocean, this is what i came up with. It was really fun to make all the small details for it. And even though it was like 30-34 degrees in my kitchen i somehow manage. I guess i was dreaming of some cold ocean water somewhere . The cake itself is made of Vanilla cake filled with white chocolate mousse and vanilla marinaded apricots , it tasted really delicious.

I finally had the opportunity to test out my new cake stuff, well some of it at least. This flowers are made with a silicon mould i got all the way from Australia. It is suppose to be apple flowers but this is how my flowers ended up.The cake itself is a Coconut cake filled with lime and pineapple mousse. In Moscow right now it is really hot so i wanted to make a light summer cake, but once again it became one of this heavy moist cakes. But my guests didn't seem to notice the heat around them, looked like they enjoyed the cake fully.

In Norway we have a cake called The worlds best, if you have ever tasted it you will understand why it is called that. Even when Jamie Oliver got this cake server when he was in Norway he very well understood why it is called the worlds best.
Normally this cake is made with a vanilla cake with meringue and chopped almonds on top, filled with vanilla cream. But since it is summer i decided to make a fresher version of the cake , i used the vanilla cake with meringue but used chopped walnuts instead , i made a citrus mousse inside and some sliced sweet strawberries. A really fresh cake.
Once again mousse cake! But even if it is a mousse cake it ended up with a really fancy color. It also tasted delicious really fresh and nice. So it will not be the last time i make a Blueberry vanilla mousse cake, but next time i think i will try with a hint of orange or lemon in it. Or maybe use a lemon cake inside not a vanilla cake. Or just try it all, i am sure it is a lot of volunteers for eating them.

The Norwegian strawberry season has just started. I cant Imagen anything better then sweet Norwegian strawberries, i can say with my hand on my heart that Norwegian strawberries is the best in the world. The not so warm Norwegian summer makes the strawberries incredible sweet and tasty. The berries on this cake is unfortunately not made with Norwegians berries when the first strawberries of the season cost as much as a small car. But the cake is still very tasty it is made of a Crunchy meringue nut cake with homemade vanilla cream and strawberries.
This Eruovision song contest where held in Norway after our Norwegian hero Alexander Rybakk won the competition last year in Moscow. This year it didn't go so well, and we ended up in the lasts spots,witch is more normal for Norway then winning. Anyway I was invited to a Eurovision party, and of course we needed something sweet for the (sweet) music...... So this is some Eurovision muffins, they have all different taste Daim muffin,Chocolate muffin,Liquorish muffins and Vanilla muffins filled with vanilla cream.

Norway's national day is a very special day for all Norwegian. The celebration is very different from other countries national day. Even thou the national day is a celebration of a very big and serious day it is made into a celebration for children. Both adults and children are dressed up in their finest clothes or the Norwegian national dress Bunad. On this day the children are suppose to be allowed to eat as much ice-cream, sausages and cakes as they want to, they normally manages a lot of it all. This cake is decorated in the colors of the Norwegian flag. And it is made of Vanilla cake with Oreo cookies filled with strawberries, around the cake it is strawberries with chocolate and branches from birch.

This I made for a very sweet lady, she became so upset that i where going to Norway when she where going to celebrate her birthday so she wanted to change the date of the party so i could come with a cake. We came to an agreement that i should make a cake for her and freeze it down. So this is her birthday cake a vanilla cake with mocca and orange cream filling.
This cake is made for a lady who became 90 years old, a really grown up age i must say. She wanted a mousse ( of course, she is Russian). She is wanted something not to sweet so I made a Cherry-yogurt mousse cake with white chocolate decoration.

This cake is for the same birthday party as the one on the picture under. It is made of White mud cake with roasted hazelnuts filled with orange marinaded cherries and white chocolate cream. This mud cakes are really heavy just the top cake on this is weighing about 1,5 kg.I love the taste of white mud cake it has so soft taste to it, and a bit compact. I found a white chocolate here with roasted hazelnuts, so it gets a nice and nutty taste to the cake.
This cake I made for a 30 year birthday party. Somehow this Russians never seem to get enough of this mousse cakes. They like the other cakes i like also of course, but when they get served a piece of mousse cake you can really see a Russian smile. This Yogurt mousse cake is made with strawberry and peach yogurt, the two tastes are really balancing each other good.

When i looked out the window yesterday it looked so gray,wet and cold. But after a big cup of cofee it looked so much brighter. So i decided to make a cake as a tribute to two of my favorite things that life has presented me with. Cofee and cake. Here in Russia they put what we call cake into two groups, one is tort another is pirog. When i came here they always asked me "Julie, can you please make cake for us?" So i made cake, and they ate it and liked it . So finally after many months of making cakes for my friends,one of them asked again " Julie , can you PLEASE make cake for us?" And i got a bit surprised because he was sitting there eating cake. And then he asked" Can you make cake with less dough in?" And then i finally understood that i have been making pirogs all the time not proper cake. So here is one more CAKE , not pirog, for my Russian friends. This is a Forest-berry mousse, with nut layer and topped with vanilla jelly.

Last night i had a dream that i where running trough a field filled with cherry trees in full blossom. When i woke up i could still feel the soft smell of cherry flowers. So i decided to make a cake that will remind me of this beautiful dream. This sweet dream is made of a Swiss-roll filled with honey cream, served with cherry sauce.
