Here in Russia they put what we call cake into two groups, one is tort another is pirog. When i came here they always asked me "Julie, can you please make cake for us?" So i made cake, and they ate it and liked it . So finally after many months of making cakes for my friends,one of them asked again " Julie , can you PLEASE make cake for us?" And i got a bit surprised because he was sitting there eating cake. And then he asked" Can you make cake with less dough in?" And then i finally understood that i have been making pirogs all the time not proper cake. So here is one more CAKE , not pirog, for my Russian friends. This is a Forest-berry mousse, with nut layer and topped with vanilla jelly.
